‘A Dream-Like Fetish Paradise’ – Folsom 2025

Special Thanks To

It was 2018 when I first experienced Berlin’s Folsom Street Festival. It’s insane to think that seven years later, I would be attending for my sixth time. I’d seen an amazing journey over the years and watched the festival grow year on year. I carried many special memories over the years at FolsomEU, and while travelling to the most vibrant kink capitals in Europe, I had a deep apprehension and excitement for another year of celebration.

This year’s edition transformed the well-known Motzstraße neighborhood into a kaleidoscope of rubber, leather, lycra, and unfiltered self-expression, creating an atmosphere that was as perverted as it was festive.

That raw energy pulses its way through the hordes of kinky patrons, and it can be felt throughout the city as it’s transformed into a fetish dwellers’ paradise over the course of the weekend. As soon as I arrived, it felt like I was part of a living celebration of fetish, love, and self-expression. Fetish flags hung from street lamps, latex-clad visitors shone in the evening sun, pups were led around on leashes, and live BDSM demos drew crowds of horny on-lookers.

What stood out most was the feeling of pure joy. Couples kissed in the open, Doms drank from steins as their subs happily worshipped their boots, gimps were firmly wrapped to lamp posts, and an inflatable mascot danced happily at the festival’s entrance. Berlin’s open spirit felt even stronger here. It was more than tolerance—it was a real acceptance of festish livelihood.

Over the course of the past few years, there’s been a huge shift in attitudes to LGBTQ+ people especially within the festish scene. With the rise of censorship, a turbulent political climate, and slow decay of our representation at pride, walls have been erected that divide our community and push us further apart. Taking a deep breath while standing at the famous crossroads outside of Prinzknecht its easy to see where the future could be heading and how such a dream-like paradise can exist. Fetish expression harmlessly and proudly in the open.

I was delighted to witness community organisations and activist groups in stands alongside fetish artisan stalls, offering resources, advice, and stories that reminded festival-goers of the struggles that paved the way for Folsom’s celebration. This seamless blend of revelry and resistance gave the event a depth that felt uniquely community-based—something that filled me with a hopeful courage.

What always puts a smile on my face was seeing how easily kinksters from all over the world could mixed together. Strangers greeting each other with real warmth. It’s a place where kinksters could be themselves and be unapologetic for it.

I left with my heart full, my voice hoarse from barking, and the comforting certainty that I had been part of something much bigger than myself.

The Folsom Street Festival is a testament to the city’s enduring legacy of fetish visibility, resilience, and celebration. For anyone seeking not just a party but an experience that affirms the power of community, this festival is unmissable.
