‘Making The Swap’ – Silicone VS Rubber

Thanks To

As the name might suggest, I’ve always had a dedicated rubber obsession. It’s the transformative nature of the material, along with how it swallows my body as it’s packed tight against me. There is no comparison to how glossy and reflective rubber becomes when massaged with lube —always leaving me drooling with deep infatuation. Within the back of my wardrobe, I had some silicone pieces that never seemed to excite me in the same way that rubber did.

I’ve been following @furrjoi001 for some time. I was awe-stricken over the items they were churning out. Their designs were straight out of a pervert’s fetish-addled brain. I started to have second thoughts about the squishy material and gave it another shot. Checking around their site, my curiosity got the better of me. I had to dive in and try it out.

I’ll be the first to admit I had my doubts about silicone being a suitable replacement for rubber. My first concern was getting that same level of glossiness that’s so easily achievable with latex. I’d heard rumours that mixing silicone lubricant could have a damaging effect on actual silicone pieces but after some research, I couldn’t find any evidence to support this. I shrugged it off and decided to get some silicone oil and test the theory myself — yikes!

I wanted to attain that full-body rubber ‘gimp’ look but replaced with silicone which meant gloves, toe socks, a hood and a bodysuit were a necessity. Virtually no skin on show — as always. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived that the suit and accessories had a relative shine to them, even without any oil.

I carefully laid out each of the pieces, aware that the material felt heavier than rubber which I worried might be exhausting to wear over time. The silicone oil worked a treat in shining each item to a high-gloss finish. The ripples of the lifeless material gleamed in the low lighting of my room. It looked almost wet, like liquid ink which I was excited to see stretched across my body.

As my toes guided into the slick opening of the neck, I could feel the silicone hugging me with a liquidy embrace. I was generous with the lubricant which meant slipping in with ease, as my feet shimmied their way through to their respective leg holes. With each movement, I recognised that the material behaved differently from rubber. It had a much ‘floppier’ feel compared to the rigid density of rubber. It could stretch way beyond what I had initially thought which aided in slipping into the suit.

Once my legs were in place, I pulled the material up over my hips watching my flesh disappear into the lubricated neck hole of the body suit. Next came the upper-body section, which I drew snugly up my waist and chest before I dove my lubed hands into the sleeve holes. This is where the weight of the suit came into play. It took some effort but once the arm sections were massaged past my elbows the opening sucked me in and rested around my neck. I was surprised by the general ease of it all after being prepared for a battle to get the item on.

Completing the ensemble were the matching socks and gloves as more of my skin vanished from sight. I pulled the silicone hood down my face and could feel the material covering every inch of my body — it was electric. It didn’t squeeze uncomfortably, but it held me, intimately, it moved as I did aided by the elasticity of the silicone’s nature. I was hyper-aware of the weight of the full getup. Every shift of movement magnified that feeling but it wasn’t as overwhelming as I’d initially thought… and actually quite pleasurable.

Standing before the mirror, I was transfixed by the glossy, coated appearance staring back at me. From a first glance, I would have assumed the material was instantly recognisable as rubber. Similar to the tightness you get where it clings to your skin. No air between me and it—just the form-fitting material enveloping my body. The silicone-coated fingers slid along the lubricated exterior of my new skin. Gripping things with them was challenging at first but given the thickness was pretty thin I got the knack of it pretty quickly.

Compared to rubber, the ensemble had some similarities but several differences. Rubber was structured, more rigid and less elastic—it resisted movement with almost no weight at all depending on the thickness. Silicone had elasticity as it was extremely flexible and had nearly no firmness. Rubber always made me feel armoured, separate from the world. This did bring about a similar feeling but something of a thicker skin coating. It had a lot of presence to it and I was ecstatic to be wearing it.
